Unofficial vendors inside and immediately outside Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport sell pre-registered SIM cards tied to other people's national IDs, which is illegal in Bangladesh. Buyers find the SIM cards work initially but get deactivated within days when BTRC runs compliance checks. Some cards are linked to criminal records, creating potential legal complications for the foreign buyer.
