Kayak rental operators near the El Nido town beach and at resort beaches in Nacpan and Las Cabanas charge inflated damage fees for normal wear or pre-existing scratches on equipment. Rental rates are typically 100-200 PHP per hour but damage demands of 1,000-5,000 PHP are reported when equipment is returned. Some operators retain customer belongings until payment is made.
