Bicycle Rental Damage Deposit Dispute

Bicycle rental operators near Gent-Sint-Pieters station and at a small number of spots in the Patershol area rent bikes without clear documentation of pre-existing damage, then claim new damage on return and retain the deposit — which may be held as a card pre-authorization of €50–150. The claimed damage is often minor scratching that was present before the rental began but was not photographed by the operator at handover.
