QR Code Payment Substitution at Market Stalls

At Zhengyang Pedestrian Street market stalls and souvenir shops near Elephant Trunk Hill, vendors display QR payment codes for WeChat Pay or Alipay. In some cases the posted QR code has been swapped or overlaid with a third-party code that routes payment to the scammer rather than the legitimate vendor. The misrouted payment may not be apparent until the victim checks their transaction history later.
