Lhasa's Gonggar Airport (LXA) sits 60km south of the city, and the long transfer makes arriving tourists prime targets for unlicensed taxi touts operating outside the arrivals hall. Legitimate metered taxis and official shuttle buses charge CNY 200–250 for the journey; touts approach visitors immediately at the exit and quote CNY 500–800, sometimes claiming the shuttle bus is "full" or "not running today."
