Unofficial Parking Attendant Fee Demands

In streets around Malaga's historic centre, particularly near the Alcazaba, the Cathedral, and the Mercado de Atarazanas, self-appointed individuals claim to be unofficial parking attendants (conocidos as "gorrillas"). They demand one to three euros before you park and imply your car may be scratched or obstructed if you refuse. The practice is illegal in Spain but remains common in busy tourist areas.
