Unofficial Amazon Guide "Licensing Fee" Scam

Individuals posing as official IBAMA-certified Amazon guides approach tourists at the Manaus boat dock and near the Teatro Amazonas, offering day trips at lower prices than established agencies. They may show laminated ID cards that look official. The trip either never departs, or the guide leads visitors into unsafe areas and demands additional fees mid-trip.
