Drink-Spiking in Ponta Negra Bars

Tourists drinking in the Ponta Negra nightlife area have reported having drinks spiked with sedatives or high-strength alcohol additives, resulting in memory loss, illness, and theft of valuables. Incidents typically involve a new acquaintance offering to buy drinks or a bar worker adding substances to an unattended glass. Forró dance venues and beachside bars with heavy foot traffic are the most commonly reported locations.
