Hanoi Bus Transfer Overcharge

Direct transfers from Hanoi to Ninh Binh are sold through Hanoi tourist street operators and guesthouse desks at prices ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 VND per person on a private minibus. The same journey is available on the regular public bus (routes 9 or 5 from Giap Bat bus station) for 60,000 to 80,000 VND. Some Hanoi operators sell what is described as a direct transfer but which actually includes detours to commission-paying shops or which drops passengers at a guesthouse rather than at Ninh Binh city center or Tam Coc.
