Taxis at Rovinjs Trg na Lokvi bus stop and those waiting near the ferry pier frequently refuse to use meters and insist on flat cash fares, particularly for hotel transfers to resorts such as Eden and Lone that are just 2–3 km from the old town. Quoted flat rates are typically twice the metered fare. Drivers sometimes claim the meter is not working or that flat rates apply for tourist destinations.
