Restaurant Menu Price Fraud

A number of smaller restaurants and food stalls in Nyaung-U market and near temple areas present no written menu, or show a menu without prices, and verbally quote low amounts for dishes. When the bill arrives it is significantly higher than the quote, relying on tourist unfamiliarity with local prices and reluctance to argue. In some cases a separate tourist menu with inflated prices exists behind the counter while a lower-priced local menu is never offered.
