Drink Spiking and Theft

Travelers have had drinks spiked in Bangkok bars and nightclubs, resulting in unconsciousness, theft, and in some cases sexual assault. The Australian Smartraveller advisory and UK FCDO both explicitly warn about this risk in Thai entertainment areas. Victims typically wake with no memory of events and find their cash, cards, phone, or passport stolen. Cases have been reported affecting both male and female travelers.
