Restaurant Menu Price Switching on Erkindik Boulevard

Cafes and restaurants along Erkindik Boulevard and around Ala-Too Square present tourists with menus showing low prices but deliver bills with substantially higher figures, claiming a different menu was in effect or that prices changed since the menu was printed. In some cases the waiter takes back the menu after ordering and the bill is calculated from an undisclosed price list. Amounts overcharged are typically 50 to 150 percent above the listed price.
