How it works

Motorbike and scooter rental shops provide vehicles with pre-existing damage then charge tourists high repair fees on return, claiming the damage was new.

How it works

On Mango Avenue and around Fuente Osmeña Circle, touts approach solo male travelers and steer them to bars where friendly locals or hostesses quickly order rounds of drinks without discussing prices. Bills arrive with inflated per-drink charges, corkage fees, and lady drink charges for staff who joined uninvited. Groups of locals at the door may block exit until the bill is settled.
