Fraudulent Facebook pages impersonating well-known Bantayan Island resorts such as Anika Island Resort and Kota Beach Resort use stolen official photos and publish at market-rate pricing, making them hard to detect as fake. Victims pay via GCash or Maya e-wallets directly to a personal account, only to discover no booking exists on arrival. Tourism authorities in Central Visayas recorded over PHP 1 million in losses from more than 200 cases between late 2025 and early 2026.
