Fraudulent websites mimicking legitimate hostels in Miraflores and Barranco take full prepayments from tourists and either deliver substandard accommodation or no booking at all. The fake sites often rank in search results by using names very similar to well-reviewed properties on Hostelworld or Booking.com. Victims discover the fraud only upon arrival, sometimes leaving them stranded late at night.
