Online Rental Deposit Fraud

Fraudulent apartment listings for Makarska Riviera properties circulate on Facebook Marketplace, Instagram, and private Croatian holiday rental groups, promising beachfront apartments at below-market rates. Deposits of 100–300 EUR are collected by bank transfer, after which hosts become unresponsive. Photos in fraudulent listings are typically copied from legitimate Makarska rental sites and repurposed without the owners knowledge.
