A number of beachfront resort hotels in Okinawa, particularly around the Onna Village resort corridor on Route 58 and the American Village area in Chatan, add mandatory resort fees or facility charges of 1,500 to 4,000 yen per night that are not included in the quoted room rate on booking platforms. These fees are disclosed in small print at checkout but not prominently displayed during booking, and they cover amenities like pool access or beach loungers that tourists may not use. Travelers are surprised at checkout when the bill exceeds the expected total.
