Fake Trekking Permit or ACAP Checkpoint Fee

Individuals at the trailhead start points around Nayapul and Phedi, and occasionally at checkpoints along lower Annapurna Circuit trails, impersonate ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) officials and collect unofficial entry fees ranging from 200 to 2000 NPR. Official ACAP and TIMS permits must be obtained in Pokhara city before reaching any trailhead. No legitimate fee collection occurs at informal trail-side checkpoints.
