Tourist Menu Bait-and-Switch in Old Town

Restaurants in the Centro Historico around Plaza Grande and Calle Garcia Moreno display a cheap almuerzo price on outdoor boards but present a much more expensive a la carte menu inside. When the bill arrives, items are priced two to three times the advertised amount and staff claim the board referred to a different menu. Some establishments quietly add undisclosed service charges.
