Booking agents at the port approach arriving tourists with hotel and villa offers that show attractive photos, but the accommodation provided is a downgrade in quality, location, or cleanliness. This is particularly common for walk-in bookings in peak July–August. Some operators take a deposit and then claim the room is unavailable, redirecting tourists to a less desirable property they also own.
