Two personable strangers strike up conversation with a tourist on the Roon Street strip or along the Sam Nujoma Drive beachfront, implying friendship or romantic interest, then suggest drinks at a specific nearby bar they are partnered with. After a few rounds the bill arrives at five to ten times the normal rate. The strangers offer to chip in a token amount, but if the tourist refuses to pay the inflated total, bar security staff escort them to the nearest ATM to withdraw enough cash to settle the tab. It is a classic clip-joint operation combining social engineering with intimidation.
