Vendors in the artisan market on Av. Brasil in Puerto Iguazú and stalls near the park entrance frequently short-change tourists by exploiting confusion between Argentine pesos and Brazilian reais, or by using old-denomination bills that are no longer legal tender. The confusion is exacerbated by the tri-border area where three currencies circulate simultaneously. Tourists can lose USD 5–20 per transaction.
