On Paross busiest beaches, sunbed operators use multiple staff shifts to collect payment twice from the same tourists. Visitors who paid in the morning are approached again by an afternoon attendant claiming no payment was made. Some operators also charge undisclosed umbrella fees on top of the sunbed price. Always obtain a receipt when paying for sunbeds and keep it visible. Under Greek law, at least one third of every beach must remain free of charge — walk toward the less-organised ends of the beach to find free spots.

What is the "Persistent Bracelet and Trinket Sellers at Naoussa" scam in Paros?

Accepted Answer

Itinerant vendors in the narrow lanes of Naoussa village and along the waterfront promenade place bracelets, wristbands, or trinkets on tourists without consent, claiming it is a gift, then demand payment and become aggressive if refused. The same tactic is used on the beach at Santa Maria and in Parikia old town. Decline firmly and do not hold out your wrist or hand. Keep walking if approached and do not engage with the initial gift offer. If a bracelet is placed on you, immediately remove it and return it directly.
