Private money-exchange booths on the main Myeongdong pedestrian street advertise competitive rates on large signboards but apply hidden fees or unfavourable rates at the window. Some operators shortchange the count or quote one rate verbally but enter a worse rate into the terminal. The difference is often noticed only after leaving the booth.
