Fake short-term apartment listings on international booking platforms advertise centrally located apartments near the Bund or People's Square at prices well below market rate. After payment is processed, the host becomes unresponsive, the address does not match any residence, or the listed unit is occupied. This is particularly common during national holidays (Golden Week, Spring Festival) when accommodation demand spikes sharply.
