Dozens of cloned and low-quality websites advertise Bromo and Ijen crater tours departing from Surabaya, offering prices 40–60% below legitimate operators. After payment via bank transfer, bookings are either not confirmed, the "guide" is unlicensed with no insurance, or the vehicle breaks down with no support. Some victims find that the "Surabaya office" address shown on the site is a residential building with no tour company.
