Tourist Menu Overcharge at Jiufen Teahouses

Teahouses and small restaurants in the hillside lanes of Jiufen (and to a lesser extent Shilin Night Market) sometimes produce a second, higher-priced "English menu" for foreign visitors, or add a service charge and mandatory tea minimum that is disclosed only in fine print. Dishes that appear identical to those on the Chinese menu may be priced 40–80% higher on the English version.
