How it works
Auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers picking up tourists at the Udaipur railway station or bus stand claim that the hotel the visitor has booked is "closed for renovation," "flooded," or "fully booked despite your reservation." The driver then redirects to an alternative guesthouse in the Lal Ghat area that pays a commission of 20–30% per room delivered. The claimed problem with the original hotel is entirely fabricated.
How it works
Guesthouse operators in the old city, particularly in the Lal Ghat and Gangaur Ghat neighbourhoods, falsely claim that their property has connections to Udaipur's royal family or Mewar lineage to justify premium pricing.
