Some tourist-facing restaurants near Praia de Iracema present menus with one set of prices and charge a higher amount on the bill, relying on the assumption that foreign visitors will not scrutinise the check closely. Table cover charges (couvert) may also be added without disclosure — small bread baskets or condiments placed on the table automatically incur a charge. Splitting bills can further obscure the inflated totals.
